Never again Rwanda is looking for open-minded, curious and very motivated university students to learn
as much as possible on the complex issues that surround peace building efforts in Rwanda to apply for
its 2013 Peace-Building Institute (PBI). Never Again Rwanda has received funding from the German
Cooperation through the Civil Peace Service (GIZ/ ZFD) towards the implementation of the Peace
building Institute 2013. Part of the funds will be used to sponsor scholarships for PBI participants from
the Great Lakes Region countries.

Applications are therefore invited from suitably competent university students from Rwanda, Burundi,
DRC, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Successful applicants will benefit from a scholarship that will
include international transportation fees, meals and accommodation, and the institute materials. NAR
will not provide per diems. Only participants from Kenya and Tanzania will fly. Participants from the rest
of the countries will travel by means of bus. Local transportation in Rwanda will be covered. However,
regional participants will not be reimbursed with travel expenses incurred in own countries. Participants
from Rwanda will have to find their own accommodations in Kigali and will not be reimbursed.
Successful applicants will join their peers from Switzerland, Jamaica, USA, Colombia, Germany and
Great Britain (UK). Institute topics will include Genocide history and prevention, Transitional Justice,
good governance and development and learn skills as global citizens in cross-cultural dialogue, critical
thinking, analysis of complex issues and problem solving. The Peace building Institute is scheduled
from July 7 through July 20, 2013. Participation for the whole period of the institute is compulsory.
Participation is highly competitive and candidates must have good command of English language. No
other languages will be used in the Institute and no translation will be provided. The Peace-Building
Institute will provide a stimulating and immersive learning environment where active group discussions
are supplemented with site visits, guest speakers. This will provide the participants with an unforgettable
educational experience.
